Happy Halloween!

He changed. Not just his clothing but his manner. The second he put his costume on, my husband transformed into a 9 year old boy. No joke. He giggled more, smiled more, had a little more pep in his step. Just watching his excitement reminded me of why Halloween is so much fun. Aside from all the candy that is consumed (which is calorie-free on Halloween...honest!), adults and kids get to transform into someone or something else. While kids get to go from house to house tricking and treating for candy, adults get to attend fabulous parties!

The other night, Steven and I attended A Very Vintage Halloween Bash, a networking party put together by some amazing wedding industry vendors. It was so much fun to hang out and meet some creative individuals. It was also fun to finally introduce Steven to some really great people I've met. When asked if he's a photographer too, he simply replied with "No, I'm the photographer's support". It really makes me feel blessed to have someone love and support the dream I'm trying to pursue. And how can you not love a man who dresses up on Halloween and enjoys it with every little bone in his body?

Check out all the fabulousness on Meg Perotti's blog. And for now, here's a frame of us in our costume glory. Meet Bjork & Max!

Katie & Eric : Married

Katie and Eric are the type of people that set you at ease. Simple. Calm. Happy. It's no wonder they found each other and fell in love. Their wedding day was perfection - lots of natural light, smiling family, fun guests and pink details. I was honored to be invited once again by the fabulous Jordana Hazel to shoot their day. Always a great time when shooting with her and even more great when met with an amazing couple like Katie and Eric. Congratulations you two! I wish you nothing but love as you continue life as a married couple.

Noelle : Darling

Six pounds. Twelve ounces. Pure joy.
Noelle Rose entered the world last week with loads of people waiting on baited breath for her arrival. And when I say loads of people, picture the biggest party you've ever been to and imagine that many people in a waiting room. It was her first party and she wasn't even here yet. She is that loved. I'm so grateful that her Mommy & Daddy let me be such a big part of their pregnancy, asking countless questions, touching the belly like it was my own and sharing every last detail. I cannot wait to watch them grow as a family, teach Noelle how to play soccer and let her in on the magic of John Mayer. Here are some of my favorites.

Giselle & Arnold : Engaged

16 years old. Boys. Girls. Friends. Trends. Parties. The last thing on your mind at that age is wondering if the next person you meet is going to be the one you'll marry. Well, that's the story of Giselle and Arnold. Their families ran with the same crowds so 15 years ago, they met. But that was it. They were young and at a completely different place in their lives. They went their separate ways and, according to them both, lived through lots of relationship drama only to be reunited years later.

About a year ago, through the wonderful invention of what I like to call the interwebz, they were reunited. After a few phone calls and emails, they were comfortably reacquainted and went on their first date. The rest was simple. 15 years after they first met, they fell in love. This past weekend, we met in Hermosa Beach, on their first anniversary for their engagement session. I was so excited to spend such a special day with them and even more excited when the day turned out to be overcast. Thank you both for such a fun day!

Christina & Joey : Darling

It's typical for wedding photographers to call this time of the year "wedding season". Which is true. But in my schedule, this time of year has also been "baby season". It's amazing how many babies surround me and my blog and I'm blessed to be a part of each and everyone of their stories. Christina and Joey are no exception. They were sent my way by the fabulous Nea and they were just as fabulous as her! They are expecting a little girl within the next month and I'm super excited to meet little J.

The Dodger game was just winding down as we were about to start our session so I suggested that Joey listen to the end and then meet us inside the South Coast Botanic Garden. He was very excited to oblige and he continued on with the session happily.

While walking around the South Coast Botanic Garden, we stumbled on an old non-working turquoise tram. Um, yes please!

I love finding random things to frame my beautiful couples.

To all my photographer friends, this next image was shot with the 50mm, f/1.0 at 1.0!!! It makes her skin look so effing smooth it's ridiculous. (ISO 125, f/1.0, 1/800)
