Yay, yay, YAY and stuff!

So we're married! It was amazingly perfect. I couldn't have imagined a better day. How is it possible that no one has invented a way to relive the best days of our life? I should invent that. Note to self: patent this idea NOW! But yes, I'm married to a beautiful man who still gives me butterflies. We're getting ready to board our plane to enjoy our honeymoon but I had to blog a picture real quick.

I can't wait to share all of our INCREDIBLE vendors and some pictures of our day, after I consume lots of umbrella drinks with my new husband of course. xoxo, Mrs. Cortez!

Oh em gee!

In just 3 short days, I will finally be able to dance around in the beautiful, second love of my life, my wedding gown! Oh, and I'll have a husband...what???? How did the time fly by so quick? No se. But I couldn't be more excited!

I should have posted this a lot sooner but if you're a client or prospective client trying to get a hold of me, thank you for your patience! I am not ignoring you, this week has just been insane. I will be back to normal Tuesday, June 2 so please bear with me until then. Just in case I don't blog until then, I'll see you all on the flip side! xoxo

Wesley : Darling

What can I say about the Vitar family? The first thing that comes to mind is how welcoming they are. From the first time we met, I felt like we were all old friends. They are the sweetest, most easygoing family I've encountered thus far. A few weeks ago we did a family session and we had such a great time. I was pleasantly surprised to hear from Kim and that she had delivered a healthy little Wesley. She wanted me to come document him at 11 days old. I was ecstatic to meet the little boy that used to live in her tummy because I knew he'd be a cutie.

Earlier this week, I met the yummy little Wesley at their home. It was very hard for me not to kick off my shoes and hang out on the couch, play airplanes with Eli or chit chat with Kim about girly stuff, you know, make-up and waxing...they are THAT cool. And fun. And people like them make me fall more and more in love with my job.

Mike and Kim - many thanks for welcoming me into your home and letting me be a small part of your story. xoxo

Check out the slideshow for more pics!

Eli is adorable. He pulled out every toy to show me. This was my favorite, for obvious reasons.

How much do you love this room? I loved it almost as much as I loved the all the natural light that filled their home.

And this rug!

Dresses and Dreads

It's 7:30am and we're off to run lots of errands today. I'm blogging because I wanted to tell someone, anyone, that I had my second wedding nightmare. I have to be quick so I can't even dwell on how bizarre it is and I'll just blurt it out. We forgot to have a rehearsal dinner and instead, went to a smelly pool hall. Then, my hair wasn't cooperating because of random humidity so one of my bridesmaids suggested I go dread style a la Monica Gellar Bing in the Bahamas and I thought it was brilliant. Once that was done I realized that I never picked up my dress from the bridal store...15 minutes before the ceremony. Since I was wearing a white robe, I ended up walking down the aisle in that. In dreadlocks with beads at the end. Oh, and Steven didn't have a tongue.

Randomness at It's Best

Wedding planning is hilarious. I never thought I'd think it was so funny until I hit the 30 day mark. Although at times I feel overwhelmed, sometimes I have no choice but to laugh my butt off at the hilarious situations I find myself in. If I didn't make myself laugh, I'd probably freak the eff out. If any of you readers have ever planned/are planning a wedding, please share some of your crazy/funny stories. I'd love to know I'm not alone.

Here are a few fun, pointless facts from a bride 17 days away from the wedding:

  • I've started a petition, in my head, that brides should get 1 month of "wedding leave", similar to "maternity leave". Let's be frank, no bride, a month before her wedding is paying any attention to her work. If you say you're the exception, you're lying. Anyone want to sign?

  • My car is filthy. You know how you see those dirty cars with "wash me" written in the grime? Yes, well, that's my car...times 80. It's filled to the brim with wedding related crap and I feel bad for the car wash guys.

  • I finally understand why you're not supposed to multi-task, er, text while driving. All the said crap that used to be in the backseat of my car, is now in my front seat. Meh. Don't text, kids.

  • Steven and I have lost a combined total of 47 pounds since January. We knew we were a little large for our bones but man, we kind of let ourselves go for a minute. Have a wedding, it's the best diet plan we've found.

  • I've loved Kings of Leon for a while but ever since our fabulous photographer paired one of their songs with our engagement pictures, I looooove them and have deemed 'Sex on fire' as our song. I don't even know the words or if they relate to us but singing "yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah...your sex is on fiiiiyaaaaah" makes me smile.

  • My niece went to prom. The one that I feel like was just born yesterday. Yes, that one. She went to her senior prom. Dear Time, please stop going by so fast. I'm not good at sprints so please, for the love of god, let me catch my breath. Sheesh. Love, Alicia. If you're bored, check out how absolutely stunning she looked. She's all growed up.

Until next time...

Audish Sisters : Whenever

Christine, Kat, Di, and Lisa. So different, yet so similar. The dynamic between sisters is something that cannot be explained. I know personally, I love my sisters so much it hurts and although we sometimes get on each other's last nerve, I couldn't imagine walking through life without them. These sisters are no different. They teased each other at times, gave each other encouragement, and held hands as they climbed down a hill in heels. Yes, I'm the mean photographer that got them in the last situation but they all handled it with such ease. I'm fairly certain it was because they were all together.

Thank you girls for hanging out with me, climbing, laying, chewing and just going with the flow. It was a pleasure working with you! xoxo

It's so fun to watch my clients get comfortable in front of the lens. Most feel awkward at first but their personalities shine through within minutes. These girls totally worked it. Makes my job so much more fun!
