Well hello you : My Wedding

After receiving several emails from lovely readers asking how my own wedding planning is coming along, I realized I've been slacking in our wedding updates and on my own personal thoughts! Sometimes I feel like people don't really want to read, they just want to see pretty pictures but it's nice to know our wedding interests some of you. I decided I'm going to make this post a smorgasbord of my thoughts, emotions and plans. Hey, it's my blog!

If you couldn't already tell, it's been a busy couple of weeks for me. I'm so thrilled to be a part of the wedding and photography industry. I've met some of the most amazing people ever and I know this is just the beginning. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me and The Modern Type. I've been pouring my heart and soul into this little puppy and I see it growing every single day. I often find myself stopping for a second to make sure it's all real and acknowledge how blessed I've been.

One of the biggest blessings is my future husband, Steven. He has been so supportive of my quest to pursue something that makes me happy, something that makes me love love even more than I already do. Even when I'm slacking in the wedding planning department and I breakdown inside of Starbucks out of sheer panic that I'm not doing enough, he's there to let me know it's okay and our day will come together and be beautiful.

Another huge blessing is my dear parents. They have been uber supportive with my photography life. Even though my mom still struggles with the concept of photojournalism, "why aren't they looking at your camera?" and my dad gets uncomfortable knowing I shoot boudoir, they have been there every step of the way cheering me on. She makes it a point to verbally comment on every single post I make and it warms my heart she is paying such close attention. My dad is there to drive me to Samy's camera to rent equipment any day of the week so I don't have to go by myself. Love them.

Back to the task at hand, our wedding! We've come a long way since my last update. We just hit the 6 month mark and from what I hear, this means the big day is getting closer and it's supposed to be crunch time! In no particular order, here are the things we've accomplished lately:

+ Ordered our wedding bands! And 20% off to boot. Thanks!
+ Booked a photobooth. Cannot wait to see all the silly faces my aunts and uncles are capable of!
+ Booked our dj! He did my maid of honors wedding as well as another good friend's wedding recently. Steven fell in love with him because he played Guster and O.A.R songs. He's such a music junkie but I love it because I never have to make cd's.
+ I finally narrowed down my colors and picked bridesmaid dresses!!!!!!!! This took forever and I'm thrilled with my choice! Can't wait to see all my lovelies rockin' the dress!
+ We had our tasting and loved all our food choices. I'm praying I actually have a few minutes at our wedding to chow down and enjoy.
+ Attended a Catholic retreat for engaged couples in Santa Barbara. Completely reconnected with one another and met some other awesome engaged couples too!
+ Asked all of our attendants to share in our day.
+ Picked readers for our mass, we have to ask them next!

We still have so much left to do and I can't wait until May 23. I just started designing our wedding invitations. I'm so excited because I've designed several wedding invites for other people but now it's my turn to have my name in pretty fonts all big across the page. I have the concept in my head and I wish it'd just spill out onto my computer screen faster! I can't wait to share what they look like once finished. You'll have to wait 5 months to find out!

Next up: asking our readers, picking a suit for the groom, flower girl dresses, our engagement shoot (super nervous about being on the other side of the lens!), registering, and hopefully making a wedding website. I bought the domain name eons ago but haven't gotten around to it. Is it too late for that?

How exciting to see everything is falling into place. I was laughing in the part where you said your Mom is coming to understand photojournalism. Cause my Mom said the same thing when she saw our e~pictures. Don't we just LOVE them? Glad you have the support and backbone you have. Congrats to it all.

Yay for supportive parents! Hi ModernType's Mom! I'm so jealous of peeps who get to do what they love for a living. Now if I could only figure out my niche...

I am so glad to see that everything is moving along so wonderfully... wedding and photography wise. The thing with life is that you will succeed in all things you are passionate in. Your gift and passions are what draws people to you and what makes you the star that you are.

Keep checking things off that list... the day will be here before you know it!
