Vanessa : Sexy

This shoot was a first for me. I had never done a sunrise shoot but when Vanessa said she wanted to have her boudoir session at the beach, on a Saturday, it only made sense to get it done as early as possible to avoid spectators.

I was beyond thrilled to take part in this session. I've known Vanessa since we were little. She is my cousin's cousin from the other side of her family. Wait, does that make sense? Anyway, I've known her for long times. I hadn't seen her or spoken with her for quite awhile so when I saw her name in my inbox I was way excited. Once I read she wanted to do such an intimate session, with little ol' me, I was honored.

Vanessa and her husband have been married for 8 years. They have 4 kids and she's as hot as ever! Can you imagine? She wanted to do something special for her husband's upcoming birthday and what better way than to show him she's still got it? Love when a woman can just put it out there, embrace her sexiness and rock what she's got. Vanessa, thank you for trusting me with such a special gift. I'm positive R is going to swoon over it!

I have to give a huge thank you to my friend Nicky of eight20 for literally drawing me a map for a 3rd grader to ensure I didn't get lost! Here are a few of the tame images since lots of our family reads this blog. Sorry peeps, the sexier ones (and there are lots of them) are private.

Vanessa : Sexy (Teaser)

I don't usually do this but since I won't be home most of the weekend, I promised Vanessa to get at least one image up of our boudoir shoot from sunrise this morning. We met at the absolutely beautiful El Matador Beach in Malibu. To.Die.For! And Vanessa killed a good way! Full post to come.

Amber : Whenever

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of hanging out with my beautiful niece and one of my maids of honor, Amber. If her face looks familiar, it's because we did her senior shoot a few months ago. We had our day of fun all mapped out and unfortunately, we woke up at 5am to news of the Sylmar fires that took the homes of hundreds of people. We sat and watched the news as the flames inched closer and closer to several homes of our loved ones. It was such a surreal experience to watch the home I grew up in on the news that morning literally covered in ash. My heart truly goes out to all those people who lost their homes or had any damages due to the fire.

Since neither of us are firefighters or trained in first aid, we said a few prayers for all the people affected, made some phone calls to ensure our friends and family were safe, and then our power went out. With nothing left to do other than sit around and stare at each other, we decided that the day must go on as planned. You see, Saturday was Amber's homecoming. If you remember back in high school, (8 years ago for me, bah!), homecoming dances were life! So even though priorities were put into perspective that morning, according to Amber, the show had to go on.

We met up with Lauren of By Lauren in the afternoon to get beautified for the big night. Once hair and makeup was done and Amber put her dress and heels on, I nearly cried at how old this little girl looked. I guess I need to come to terms with the fact that she's growing up. I had to document it all so with about 7 minutes before the sun was about to set and about 10 minutes before her date was to arrive, I dragged her across the street to an empty lot for a 3 minute photo shoot. Thankfully, she's learned to just go with things when I drag her.

P.S. If anyone is looking for a fabulous dress on the cheap, run don't walk to the Betsey Johnson outlets in Camarillo. Amber bought hers there for a fraction of the retail price!

Candice & Anthony : Engaged

If I had to choose three words to describe Candice and Anthony, I'd have to say they are spontaneous, upbeat and free. These two complement each other so well and move together with such ease. I can tell Candice truly is the life of the party and Anthony is the quiet spirit who lovingly listens as she makes everyone around her laugh. Yesterday afternoon, we wandered around the Santa Monica Pier as Candice and Anthony frolicked hand in hand, laughed and exchanged some PDA, even though she says its a California thing.

They are getting married in Baltimore next year and hearing all their ideas, I'm sure they're going to have a gorgeous wedding. Thank you both for allowing me the opportunity to meet you and document your relationship. I hope you stick around in Cali for more than a few years and that we get to hang out again! Onto the photos...

In the beginning, they said they were nervous but then they pulled out this hotness.

If you look really hard, you can see another couple having an engagement session way off in the distance.

Loved how they could switch gears - fierce to fun - in the matter of seconds.

EDITED TO ADD: Of course the day I post this, the blog decides to work. I'm beyond thrilled that is fixed. Sorry for all the confusion!

So last week while fidgeting around with my blog, I decided to change some preferences. While in the control panel, I realized that I was in no man's land and I had to get out of the coding mumbo jumbo. I don't know what I pressed or changed or saved, I thought I got out in time. But nope. I was wrong. I broke it. For one whole week my beloved blog was missing in action. Thankfully, I was able to revert it to its original working identity -

If you're reading this somewhere, somehow, thank you for your patience and for sticking with me. If you know anyone who also reads and has been unable to view the blog, please give them the heads up for me and refer them to I, myself, am trying to be patient, something that I'm not very good at, while waiting for someone to fix this. I have my good friend looking into the issue but blogger is not being very friendly. Wish me luck! I have two awesome shoots this weekend and I can't wait to share them with you. Thanks for coming back!

I've gotten quite a few emails for information about my dear friend and one of my favorite vendors helping to beautify my wedding so I thought I'd share one of her new ventures with you. By Lauren is blogging! She's brand new to the blogosphere so please welcome her with open arms and be patient as she gets situated. I've spotlighted another one of my favorite vendors earlier and I will most likely continue the trend up until our wedding.

As a bride myself, I have heavily relied on recommendations from friends and other brides. I ultimately make the final decision myself based on my gut feeling, but I think it's important to get first hand knowledge from someone who has already worked with a potential vendor. I wholeheartedly recommend Lauren. Check out her blog and be on the lookout for lots of new work coming from her!
